Network Maintenance - remaining issues
Posted by admin on 2008-05-01 17:01:44
As mentioned in our Service Advisory, the maintenance last night to install the new storage array was a complicated, difficult procedure. The good news is that the new storage system is performing flawlessly. The bad news is that not everything is back to 100% as yet.

There is a remaining issue that is being caused by the new storage array - it's a bit too powerful. The network switch that is managing the connections for the array (and did a fine job working with the older array) is being periodically overwhelmed by the amount of data moving over that network segment. This is resulting in failed connections, most commonly seen as "connection timed out" when trying to access the CCC, this web site, or the mail cluster.

We are working on the issue and hope to have it resolved early Friday. This will however result in brief outages as we move some of the traffic to different network switches and segments. If a connection to the mail server or web site times out or fails, simply re-try the connection a few moments later. We will update this story again once this issue has been resolved. We thank you for your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.
