Avvanta will be performing upgrades to Avvanta network backbone equipment on Thursday March 27th, between 12:01AM and 2:00AM PDT. During this time there will be brief intermittent outages in internet connectivity as equipment is upgraded. This work requires no action on your part.
On Wednesday morning Mar 19th one of our border routers began experiencing problems which affected routing and DNS for about 40 minutes. The affected routes were transferred to secondary and tertiary equipment and we will be using this maintenance to replace that malfunctioning router. The outage will occur when we transfer routes back to the replacement primary.
The entire process should only last a few minutes but there is always the possibility of some unforeseen bug or problem that could extend the outage time. Administrators will make every effort to correct the problem or implement the back out plan quickly if something occurs. All outage times are estimates based on expected outcomes of the work being performed and previous experience performing the same or similar work.
