Avvanta will be performing emergency maintenance to the Avvanta network core on Thursday December 20th between 12:01 am and 4:00 am PST. During this work there is the potential for brief, intermittent disruptions of internet connectivity. Administrators don't expect outages to be more than a few minutes in total. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused during this maintenance.
The aggregate circuit outage last week and Qwest's DS3 outage this week has made it clear that we need to spread the routes out a bit more than they are now. Too many DSL lines are affected if any one of these circuits go down and although these circuits are outside our control, we can at least minimize the impact on customers when problems develop on them. We'll be shifting DSL routes Thursday morning to effect this change. This will cause a very brief outage for individuals as we shift their connections from one router to another.
We will endeavor to keep interruptions in connectivity as brief as possible. There is always the possibility of some unforeseen bug or problem that could extend the outage time. Administrators will make every effort to correct the problem or implement the back out plan quickly if something occurs. All outage times are estimates based on expected outcomes of the work being preformed and previous experience performing the same or similar work.
