Local Dialup Number Change
Posted by admin on 2007-11-05 17:52:18

CompleteNet customers who use dialup numbers ending in 4888 will be affected by a renumbering. The telephone number used to connect to Avvanta will be changing on Wednesday, November 7th. (Note: This date was extended to November 30th)

This change only affects those who dial in using a telephone number ending in 4888.

When we began offering nationwide dialup service several years ago we maintained the legacy x4888 numbers as a convenience for our long time customers.

With the relocation of our Network Operations Center complete we now must consolidate our modem pools which means the legacy number(s) will no longer work after this change.

A notification was emailed to all customers who have used a 4888 number in the last 30 days. That notice included the new replacement dialup numbers.

The Service Finder can also be used to find dialup numbers local to you. The Service Finder will still list x4888 numbers as usable and will until we've updated its database later this week.

Username change: When using the new dialups, change your username to your full Avvanta email address. For example if you normally log in using johndoe then use johndoe@avvanta.com as your username. (Or you can also use your @blarg.net domain if you prefer)

EMAIL CHANGE: You will need to configure your email program to use SMTP Authentication and SSL when using the new dialups.

Instructions for making this change in most common email clients can be found in the support section of our web site.

If you encounter any difficulty using the new dialup numbers or if you need assistance configuring your computer to use SMTP Authentication, please call our office at (425) 818-6500 or toll free at (888) 662-5274.
