Planned Verizon Service Interruption, Oct 30 & 31st
Posted by admin on 2007-10-29 14:19:02

Verizon has confirmed that their circuit move is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning, October 30th at 6am. The move of all circuits should be completed by Wednesday October 31st at 3pm.

This change will cause an interruption in your DSL service of approximately 30 minutes sometime during this time period while the changes are made by Verizon. This service interruption only affects Verizon DSL circuits.

This Verizon circuit move completes the transition of our services to our new network operations center. The intent of this change is to strengthen Avvanta's current DSL stability and does not require any action on your part.

Verizon will move each individual DSL circuit using their own internal criteria so we cannot predict when any single line will be moved during the service window. Some time during the service window each individual DSL line will be taken offline for approximately 30 minutes. Once Verizon has finished moving the circuit your service should automatically reconnect.

Please ensure that your Internet equipment is performing no critical updates, backups, or other activities over your connection during the service time frame.

If your Verizon DSL connection does not restore itself after 30 minutes use the following procedure to restore service:

  • Unplug the power from the DSL modem and leave the modem unplugged.
  • Unplug or power-off the next device behind the modem, usually your router. Be sure to leave the power off to both devices.
  • Plug the DSL Modem's power back in and wait at least two minutes.
  • After two minutes, plug the power back in to your DSL router.

It is very important to follow this procedure exactly as outlined here. If the modem and router are powercycled in any other sequence or if the router is powered up too soon the router often finishes booting before the modem has established the actual DSL connection. This can leave the router thinking that there is no internet connection available.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused during this change. If you have any questions on this upgrade, please contact Technical Support at 425-818-6500, or by e-mail to support@avvanta.com.
