Network Outage - Monday, September 08th 7:30pm

Monday evening beginning shortly after 7:30pm Avvanta's border routers suffered a Denial of Service attack which lasted approximately 80 minutes. During this period internal services were unaffected however connections to external networks were severely degraded.

Update: Tue, Sep 9, 2003, 6:15p. There were a few additional outages today, all of them were remedied within a few minutes. Our administrators, working together with Cisco, have identified the cause of the outages and have adjusted our router configurations to prevent further outages. Our administrators will continue to monitor things very closely to ensure uninterrupted service.

The DOS attack was compensated for and all services were restored by approximately 8:45pm. DSL customers with outages during this time period who are still experiencing connectivity issues may need to reboot their DSL modems. If this does not correct the problem please call Support at 425/818-6500 and we apologise for the inconvenience.
