2Wire 2700HG-D Setup

This is a Setup Guide, not a general 2Wire Modem Support Page. If you need technical assistance with your 2Wire modem and are not an Avvanta customer please contact 2Wire Technical Support.

Included with your 2Wire 2700HG-D was a CD-ROM labeled "Put this CD-ROM in FIRST". You should NOT use this CD-ROM to configure your 2Wire router. It is not needed and the software is not 100% compatible with Avvanta's DSL Service.
Physical Installation
  • Plug in the power supply and connect the power cable to the DSL router. The Power LED should begin flashing rapidly for about 5 seconds and then be steady green. The DSL LED should then start blinking.
  • The gray phone cord included with your router is your DSL cable, this is the cable that should be used to connect your router to the phone jack. Plug one end into the Line port on the back of the Router and the other end directly into your phone jack on the wall. Run the line directly from the wall to the router, the line must not be plugged into anything other than the router and the wall. Splitters, answering machines, surge protectors, fax machines, etc., may interfere with the operation of your DSL line. After connecting the DSL cable, the DSL LED on the front of the router should stop blinking and go solid green after 10 to 30 seconds. If the DSL LED does not stop blinking, verify that you have properly connected the telephone line to the router and the wall. If the DSL LED does not stop flashing, and it is past your Qwest activation date, you should call Qwest Technical Support at 1-800-247-7285 to ensure that your line has been activated.

The 2Wire 2700HG-D has three methods for connecting your computer, one Ethernet LAN port, 802.11g Wireless, and a USB port. The preferred connection method for configuration is via Ethernet. If you do not have an Ethernet connection on your computer, you may not be able to proceed. If your computer does not have an Ethernet adapter, you will need to purchase and install one prior to proceeding.

Connecting to the Ethernet Port
  • Plug one end of the provided yellow ethernet cable into one of the Ethernet ports on the back of the router. With your computer powered on, plug the other end into your computer's ethernet adapter. The Ethernet light on your router should be steady and green. This light may begin blinking shortly after the connection is made, and this is normal.

Verify Connectivity
  • Make sure that the POWER LED is lit and green on the router. If the POWER does not come on and remain lit, verify that you have correctly connected the power cord to the router. If the light does not remain lit, or continues flashing call our office at 425.818.6500 or 888.662.5274.
  • The Ethernet LED should be lit and green and possibly flickering occasionally. This indicates a connection to your computer. If the indicator light does not come on double check the connection between your computer and the router. If after verifying the connection between the computer and router you are still unable to obtain an Ethernet Network connection, call our office at 425.818.6500 or 888.662.5274 for assistance in diagnosing the cause for this.
  • Make sure the DSL LED is lit and steady. If the DSL LED is not lit, or is blinking, double check the telephone line connection between the router and the wall. If the DSL light does not stay a steady green color, the router is not receiving a DSL signal from your phone line. Call Qwest Technical Support at 1-800-247-7285 to ensure that your line has been activated.
